Kuet theke bolci

KUET, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, is the pick of technical education in Bangladesh. Each and every year, 800 of the top students get admission into this institution. But it’s a matter of shame for the country that, most of the students leave the country within 2-3 years of graduation for higher education or job purpose, but most of them never return permanently. Statistics show that almost 45 of the 60 students graduated from the Department of EEE Engineering in January, 2008 already left Bangladesh and others are preparing to leave. Even more than 50% of the students graduated in October 2009 left the country within two years of their graduation. If you visit any BUET hall, you would see most of the students busy with GRE or TOEFL or mailing professors in USA or Canada.  Most of the students serve throughout the world effectively, but they are reluctant to do it for Bangladesh. The question is, why? Engineering courses are based on research and find new techniques. Most of the students have merits to conduct research and find new technologies for the next generation. But for the limited research facilities, they cannot get the opportunities. Bangladeshi graduates have designed many multistoried buildings in USA, by the new technology and their knowledge, but they cannot get the chance in this country. Technical personnel get a huge demand in the modern world. You can see, about 300 students leave the country for USA each year, but the job fields need more people there. It should be added that, students from other engineering institutions also get the chance in USA and implement their academic knowledge. Even then their job fields need more and more people. But the chance in Bangladesh is so limited that most of the graduates have to wait for a long time for a job. Most of the companies reluctant to take kUET graduate, because they think they will not stay. Rather they prefer a non-technical person in this position. Salary and other beneficiaries also can be blamed for this situation. The salary and other benefits are so limited that, most of them cannot support their families within 2-3 years. Most of the engineers in Bangladeshi companies earn 8000-15000 per month, if he works in Middle East as engineer; he may earn more than 1lac initially. Demand in Europe or USA is even bigger. Of course, some of the multinational companies make their own beneficial system, like Chevron, KAFCO, Gas fields etc. but most of the local companies cannot treat them as engineers. But something should be taken into account, technical knowledge is needed in job fields, especially in the factory and design level job fields for the maximum efficiency. So, high demand by the engineer is logical. The job behavior can be considered as one of the major problems in Bangladesh. Most of the companies treat them like a burden.  So the graduates cannot go abroad have to switch to other sectors like administration, BCS or any other business. Another case should be taken into account, not only for KUET but also for all of the engineering students. Most of the graduated come to the job field without any idea about the job field and job environment. So after the graduation they have to start as beginners. A little chance exists of specialized part time job for them, so that they make themselves prepare for the future job fields. They are assets for the country, not burden. If they could serve for the whole world, then why not we are using our merits for our country? I have taken an assignment from a graduate from KUET.... He told that "My ambition was to stay in my country, serve for my country and work in this country. But I have faced several obstacles since I started my carrier. First of all, in almost every interview, I have to hear the same thing.KUET graduates don’t want to stay. Actually everybody switch their jobs, but the guilty part is only the KUETians. We are like the toy of the management. We never thanked for our credit, but always blamed for a minimal mistake. Most of my friends staying in Bangladesh already have switched their fields.  The job fields of Bangladesh are not friendly at all. I have linked to my friends in USA, Germany and other countries, they got the required honour and salute for their qualifications. They said that, these people try to make the best use of their merits. So, I am trying to leave my country by this moment, which was not on my future plan.
